How does SecurID protect my personal information?
SecurID is dedicated to keeping your information safe, especially because you are
providing us with your Social Security number. SecurID is SSL Certified. The SSL
(Secure Sockets Layer) technology protects our website and protects your information.
Our SSL certificate enables encryption of sensitive information during online transactions.
You can click on the SSL Certification seal for evidence of encryption and identity
authentication. The authentication and verification procedures are audited annually
by KPMG using Statement of Auditing Standard 70 Type II, established by the American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants. You can trust SecurID is safe and secure.
What is fraud alert?
You have the right to ask that nationwide consumer reporting agencies place “fraud
alerts” in your file to let potential creditors and others know you may be a victim
of identity theft.
A fraud alert can make it difficult for someone to get credit in your name because
it tells creditors to follow certain procedures to protect you. It also may delay
your ability to obtain credit. On your behalf, we will place a fraud alert in your
file with all three nationwide credit reporting companies.
After immediately enrolling in SecurID, we request alerts to be set on all of your
credit reports at TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian. Within a week or two after
enrollment, you will receive credit reports from these credit companies showing
your alerts are in place.
The initial fraud alert that we will request on your behalf will stay in your file
for at least 90 days. You can place an extended alert that stays in your file for
seven years. To place this alert, you will have to provide an identity theft report.
An identity theft report includes a copy of a report you have filed with a federal,
state or local law enforcement agency, as well as additional information a consumer
reporting company may require you to submit. For more detailed information about
the identity theft report, visit
www.consumer.gov/idtheft.
Is there a difference between a fraud alert and a credit freeze?
Certain states allow individuals to implement a security or identity "freeze" that
completely locks, or freezes, access to your consumer credit report and credit score.
With a credit freeze, a business will not issue new credit to anyone in your name
- including you, unless you unlock your file. When you want to access your own credit,
you will need to formally unlock access to the credit file. Certain fees may apply.
A fraud alert does not freeze your credit, rather; it safeguards your credit from
unauthorized use. Once you become a SecurID member, SecurID places fraud alert requests
at the three credit bureaus and automatically renews the requests every 90 days.
Who will I receive a call from to let me know if someone is attempting to obtain
credit in my name?
If someone is trying to use your personal information, the creditor that is issuing
the line of credit will contact you. If you receive a call and you are not the one
applying for credit, the transaction should be stopped immediately.
What happens if I apply for credit?
The creditor who is issuing the line of credit will notice a fraud alert has been
placed on your account. They then have an obligation to call you or take other extra
steps to verify your identity. They will ask you a series of questions to validate
it is you making the request. Once your identity is verified, they can process your
request. Please note that SecurID does not influence the credit decision in any
way.
Can I get my credit score through SecurID?
While we do request your free annual credit reports, your credit score is not included.
Does SecurID monitor my credit card transactions?
SecurID does not monitor your credit card transactions.
What if my information is not correct on my credit report; can you fix it for me?

instructions found in your credit report.
